FOOTBALL SEASON

I am sad. Cameron is sad. His football season has come to a close. We love football--and I particularly love to watch Cameron play football. He is ferocious! Not a huge kid, but huge of heart and he knows the game.
So, sixth season (two here, two in northern VA, and two more here), he has played football. For the past five seasons, he has been a team captain. This year he was the Defensive Team Captain, #44 The Diesel, and the defense really held its own. Cameron plays Middle Linebacker.
This team from Sierra Vista went up against the likes of the boys from Douglas, Nogales, and Benson. Let me assure you, they grow 'em BIG in those towns. Now mind you, this is the 12-14 year old league, and you could be 15 yrs old if you turned 15 during the season. HOWEVER, you could not be in high school. SO...there are some big, big kids in 8th grade from the afore mentioned towns. Cameron asked on of the players from Douglas, and he said he had repeated 8th grade twice.
Tom mentioned that he was a little concerned when he saw some of the Douglas players driving to the football game with their wife and kids, smoking a cigarette! (lol) No joke, these kids were men sized. Kenny, from Bisbee, was 6'2" and weighed in at 242. REMEMBER, 12-14 yr old league with NO WEIGH RESTRICTIONS.
So, here is Cameron in action. They beat Nogales, Sierra Vista Cardinals, and finally, yes, I repeat, finally, they beat BENSON. Go Sierra Vista Midget COLTS !!!

  2. Bravo, Cameron! Congratulations on a great season! Our Tom says to say "hi" and that he misses the old Ft H gang. There's nothing like runnin' around wild and free out there... wild animals, mountains, huge open fields. It's the life! It was good to see your Tom. We took him out to eat at a restaurant that's normally great, but the service was realllllly slow that night AND there was a defect on the tile tabletop that made his plate teeter and wobble all through the meal. Poor guy! He was a good sport about it, though! :)

  3. It is always sad when football season is over! But i do not miss sitting and watching while freezing! The No VA season was a long one as was the one in Snohomish! I often wondered what we would do on Fridays after they all finished playing. It is an adjustment!!!
    Congratulations on your season Cameron!
